The best starting hands in Texas Holdem are three of a kind, trips or better and any pocket pair, however low the cards you need to have a good hand. Once you have a good starting hand you are in a good position to get a lot of value out of it and win a lot of chips.
Three of a Kind
You have three of a kind when you have any pocket pair in your hand plus another two cards of the same rank. A good example of this would be having pocket sevens as your pocket cards and an ace as the next card. Three aces are a lot better than three twos so they are a lot more worth playing than three kings.
Trips
You have trips when you have three cards of the same rank and another two cards of the same rank. For example you have three tens and two AAs in your hand. You have three ways to win this hand as a set, three of a kind, trips or two trips.
Any Pair
You have any pair when you only have a pair of a different rank. In the example above you had pocket threes so you do not have a set and you only have a pair. You could win this hand by putting the other card in the middle and playing it as a set, but you have to be pretty sure you can do this from your hand before you do it.
How Trips Are Played
Trips are played in the opposite way from any other hand in poker. Rather than the term playing off your hand you are trying to make a good hand and only worry about winning the tournament in the time it takes to play the hand.
You should not play trips in any other situation apart from when you have shown strength pre-flop and slam the pot with a big raise. You need to take trips seriously and make sure you positionally trap tale flops to reduce the number of players in bandar lotre.
For example, against a small stack in late position you should not call a flop with the hope of hitting a set against a bigger stack. When playing a small stack in early position you can call hoping for a heads-up before you turn the turn.
Against a bigger stack, you should throw your trips up every time you hit the board. Don’t take trips off the board unless you absolutely know you will win the hand.
Trips are your best friends in the right situations. However, they can also eat your chips if you are not careful.
When your trips do miss the flop, unless the board is scary and there is a straight or flush draw, play it for all it is worth and make a small bet there, don’t take it too far.
Against a greedy person, call with the hope of hitting a set. Don’t take it too far and take trips off the board against competitors with a wider range of hands.
Against a super aggressive player, anything goes. Brothers, sisters or first cousins, you should be firing trips at will. Bet trips pre-flop and take them to the river.
Get complete information on every player at every stake in every hand – their performance stats and hand ranges etc. Fold a lot of hands that you think you are beaten or drawing dead, those clients of yours.
Play enough of the right hands to know when you are beat or drawing dead. That’s fundamental.
The next thing to take note of is clients, interpret this in the following sense. A very aggressive player may not play many hands, but when he does play the results will indicate a significant range of hands for him. One hand he will raise, others he will fold, still others he will call.
redict these actions and you will know when somebody else’s drawing hand is better than yours, you are in trouble. When you get heads up, understand you adversary as a person and realize that hand they hit their trips not your three hopes.
With some practice, you could nearly always be in the running to win. But, practice is not enough; you need a composite hand and a complimentary hand to win ten or eleven at showdown. As Texas say, don’t take Texas poker as a babysitting operation.
This is one of the reasons for tenacity. If you are willing to get your hands on the right cards and make the proper bets, you will win in the long term.
sixth street- the river
Often, players have a limited understanding of outs and implied odds. Theysounding out probable hands to win, which is normally ill advised. If they are unable to sound out competing hands intelligently, they make poor bets when they hit something.
Only successful players know what hands have a fighting chance on the river. If they don’t, they shouldn’t be playing. The odds show they will lose long term.
